Luis and I first met while working together at our Fire Department. One day, while stationed together, we engaged in a conversation about various health topics. At that point, I had already been involved with our fire department's anti-cancer group for over 7 years. Luis, having gone through his own health journeys, possessed a wealth of knowledge on the subject. Unfortunately, we had recently experienced the loss of a young firefighter to liver cancer, which prompted me to seek his advice on what we could do to prevent such tragedies in the future. During our discussion, Luis introduced me to the concept of supplements that aid in liver detoxification and the use of "binders," which was new to me at the time. Intrigued by these ideas, we spent hours delving deeper into the topic. Luis had previously attempted to get involved in finding solutions, but had not yet been given the opportunity. However, we remained in touch after that shift, and I began incorporating a new supplement regimen based on his recommendations. Motivated by our shared goal of reducing cancer cases among young firefighters due to their exposure to carcinogens, we embarked on a research project. We noticed that while scientists and doctors were focusing on studying the presence of cancer-causing agents, there seemed to be a lack of emphasis on potential treatments. Leveraging Luis's knowledge of cleansing through functional medicine, we aimed to develop a product that firefighters could use within the first hour of a severe exposure. Our vision was to create something compact enough to carry in a gear bag, mimicking the "on scene decon" and "shower within the hour" practices. However, our initial efforts yielded no satisfactory results. Unsatisfied with this outcome, we dedicated ourselves to the task. After months of hard work, we successfully secured the necessary ingredients, manufacturer, packaging, and production for our product, Deconpac. It has been a long and challenging journey, but we couldn't be happier to have completed the process. We eagerly anticipate firefighters from all over the world using our product as a maintenance cleanse throughout the year and as a severe exposure pac on scene.
